Looking after our teeth

13/12/2024

Our whole school enjoyed a visit from Tommy from Bright Bites.  He spent time with everyone from Nursery to Year 6.  He reminded us that we need to brush our teeth for two minutes, twice a day and visit the dentist twice a year.

As usual, our children wowed our visitor with their super listening and shared their knowledge about oral health.  Every child in school tool home a toothbrush and some toothpaste.  Let's keep our smiles shiny and clean.

KS1 Lights, Camel, Action!

Key Stage One have had a wonderful time this week performing their show ‘Lights, Camel, Action!’ It had all the glitz, glamour and funky moves you could wish for.
Our Voiceover boomed her voice all over the hall to introduce each fantastic dance act and the celebrity judges: Anton DuDonkey, Shirley Myrrh-las and that mean old Caesar Revel Horwood.
The performance had it all from Line dancing townsfolk to Ballet dancing angels, Funky Camels to Disco Stars, Innkeepers who could Tango better than anyone we have ever seen on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and let’s not forget the Hand Jive at the end that got us all dancing!
Well done to all the children in Year 1 and Year 2 for their hard work.
We hope you enjoyed the performances as much as we did!

LKS2 had a great sports day where they took part in lots of fun and exciting sporting activities. In the morning, the children completed a carousel of team sporting activities. These included dodgeball, kickball rounders, handball and bowling cricket. The children had a fantastic time competing.
In the afternoon, children took part in running races on the field with an amazing crowd of parents/carers watching on.
These races included a flat sprint, egg and spoon race and a potato (bean bag) race. All of the children gave it their best and had a wonderful time.

Take a look at some of the photos below to see the children of Year 3 and 4 in action!

On Thursday 23rd May 2024, we will be saying goodbye to Mrs Gray, one of our amazing teaching assistants. Mrs Gray has worked at Wellgate for over ten years and has been an integral part of Team Wellgate. She has touched the lives of many children and been a close friend to many members of staff.
We know that Mrs Gray will be absolutely amazing in her new role but we will miss her lots at Wellgate. Good luck Mrs Gray!

Honey attended Wellgate and was a much-loved pupil.  We are delighted that we raised £301.  Thank you to all our families for supporting this very important cause.

Last week, the children and staff took part in an active session to raise funds for The British Heart Foundation in memory of one of our parents, Natalie Pell. nee. Senior, who unexpectedly passed away two years ago.
The children had a wonderful time exercising and thanks to your donations we raised an amazing £390 for the charity.
Thank you so much for your kind donations.

Yesterday, we said goodbye to Father Tim.  We would like to thank him for the last five years of assemblies, St John’s visits and of course, the unforgettable zoom assemblies.  For his last task at Wellgate, we asked him to officially open our much anticipated 'Dojo Shop.' We wish him good luck in his new role as Canon Precentor at Wells Cathedral in Somerset.  Goodbye and good luck
