Today we said goodbye and good luck to one of our fabulous kitchen team Mrs Harford. She has worked in the kitchen at Wellgate for 14 years making tasty meals and yummy puddings. Mrs Harford will be missed but we wish her well with her new adventure.
Your kindness never fails to amaze us and once again you have gone above and beyond in donating food and essentials for the foodbank scheme as part of our Harvest Festival.
Thank you for your support with this initiative; we are sure that your donations will be much appreciated by the families in need. The children enjoyed celebrating Harvest with Father Tim who delivered assemblies to all year groups this week and also learning Harvest songs within singing assemblies. This Friday, we will be waving goodbye to Mrs Hanwell and Mrs Barker. They have both been part of the Wellgate family, as amazing teaching assistants, for over 20 years and have thoroughly enjoyed their role. It is amazing to think of the children's lives that have been in influenced by these brilliant women. Mrs BarkerMrs HanwellWe are also saying a fond farewell to Miss Parker, who is our Year 3 teacher. We wish her well as she moves on to an new adventure of running her own business. As well as this, we are also saying goodbye to Mrs Parkin, our brilliant PSA and attendance officer, who has been an essential part of Team Wellgate for 10 years. We wish her lots of luck as she moves on to pastures new at a local secondary school. Mrs ParkinMiss ParkerWe would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the time, effort and dedication that has been given to the children and families over this time. We wish you all well for your new adventures!
Take a journey into the depths of Sherwood Forest and discover the hilarious truth behind the legend of Robin Hood. When the evil Sheriff of Nottingham and his gormless guards threaten the villagers of Sherwood, feisty Maid Marion hires a band of freedom fighters for protection. But when Robin and his Merry Men arrive, she soon discovers they're not exactly what she'd ordered! With no time to lose, she persuades these hapless heroes to take centre stage for the performance of their lives - if only they could stick to the script!
Audiences followed the most outrageous outlaws in history on their side-splitting, action-packed adventure to defeat the dastardly Sheriff. They stormed Nottingham Castle, rescued Maid Marion and overthrew King John - all without laddering their tights! A huge well done to the Y6 pupils for their superb acting skills in this year’s performance of Robin Hood and the Sherwood Hoodie. All of the children worked extremely hard to learn their lines, stage directions and dance moves. We also had lots of hard work and dedication off stage with children working on props, lighting and music. The Year 5 pupils learnt and performed the songs and dance moves perfectly – well done Year 5!Take a look at the photos to see how amazing the performances were. edit. to Last week, all children in F2-Year 6 took part in a workshop delivered by staff from HSBC. The sessions for each year group were based around themes that complement the learning they do as part of their PSHEE lessons. Children in Year 2-Year 6 also took part in an assembly which involved learning about what a debit card can be used for and the different parts of the card and their functions. Due to allowing all of the children to take part, we were presented with the HSBC Smart Money Award for our commitment towards financial education. We would like to say a huge thank you to the team from HSBC who came along and delivered the sessions. They commented how we have such a lovely group of students and staff - well done Team Wellgate! Earlier this week, Mr Imran Kotwal from Muslim Educational Services visited Wellgate. He carried out assemblies for the children and then individual workshops for Years 2, 4 and 6. Have a look at the photos from the day.

Well done to everyone for taking part! LKS2 had a great sports day where they took part in lots of fun and exciting sporting activities.
