The Year 5 Christmas Party was an unforgettable event filled with joy, laughter, and plenty of festive cheer. Our students came together to celebrate the holiday season with an afternoon packed full of fun activities, delicious treats, and heartwarming moments.
The party kicked off with music filling the room. The children danced their hearts out, showcasing their best moves and spreading contagious energy. The highlight of the dancing session was a spirited round of musical statues, where students froze mid-dance to hilarious and creative poses. Next up were the party games, and they didn’t disappoint! One of the favourites were “Sleepy Elf,” a game that had everyone giggling as players tried to “fall asleep” at just the right moment. Laughter echoed throughout the room as everyone got into the festive spirit, cheering each other on. The fun continued at our festive photo booth, where students posed with friends using a range of holiday-themed props. Santa hats, reindeer antlers, and much more. No party is complete without some delicious food, and this one was no exception. The children enjoyed a spread of party treats, including pizza and chicken nuggets. There were plenty of happy faces as they shared the food and chatted with their friends. The Year 5 Christmas Party was a wonderful way to end the term on a high note. It brought everyone together to celebrate the season, and the smiles on the children’s faces were a true testament to the magic of Christmas. Here’s to a joyous holiday season and an exciting New Year ahead!

This term, our talented Year 5 students have been hard at work mastering their brass instruments under the expert guidance of Mr. Smith. Their dedication and perseverance culminated in a fantastic Brass Celebration that showcased their progress and passion for music.
The event began with the children performing a spirited rendition of “Jingle Bells,” filling the room with festive cheer. Their enthusiasm and teamwork set the perfect tone for the rest of the celebration. Next, the audience was treated to beautiful performances of Christmas classics, including “Xmas Time,” “Good King Wenceslas,” and “Jolly Old Saint Nicholas.” Each piece demonstrated the students’ growing confidence and skill, as they played in harmony and captivated everyone with their music. A highlight of the celebration was when the children came together to sing “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.” Their heartfelt performance brought smiles to all and reminded us of the joy and unity that the holiday season brings. Mr. Smith’s dedication and guidance have been instrumental in the students’ journey, and their progress is a testament to his inspiring teaching. The children’s hard work and practice truly shone through during this memorable event. The Year 5 Brass Celebration was a wonderful way to celebrate both the festive season and the students’ musical achievements. Bravo to all our budding musicians for a brilliant performance, and thank you to everyone who joined us to support them. We can’t wait to see what they accomplish next term! Last week, the hardworking children of 5AH amazed their parents and carers with their class assembly. Even though they're still in their first term, they have completed an incredible amount of work and have learnt so much already!
The children shared learning from writing, DT and History as well as sharing some of their favourite moments from their residential trip to Kingswood. They also performed some excellent songs for everyone attending the assembly. Take a look at some pictures from the class assembly below. Earlier this year, year 5 took part in two first aid workshops to learn all about keeping safe and how to deal with injuries and accidents. The children thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and learnt some very valuable lessons. Why don't you ask them what they can remember?
Please take a look at the pictures from the afternoon below - some of the children really got into character when playing injured. Year 5 had a fantastic day celebrating our love of reading. To start the day, we enjoyed a football/book quiz, which was hosted by professional footballers and authors alike. We also took part in a virtual author talk to find out about the process of writing and illustrating a book - the children were even taught how to draw one of the main characters from his book 'InvestiGators'.
We also focused our learning on the picture book 'Flotsam', discussed our understanding of the story and thought about what we would have done if we were in the main character's position. Why not ask your children about the book and what they thought of the story? We were also amazed by the effort everyone had put into their outfits and would like to thank parents and carers for their creativity! Please take a look at some pictures below of Year 5's World Book Day. Both Year 5 classes had excellent days completing their MasterChef projects. They had to work as a team and follow instructions to ensure they produced a meal everyone could enjoy. The children amazed the staff in Year 5 with their patience and cooking ability, they even managed to teach Mr Hirst, who has only stepped into a kitchen once before, a few cooking techniques.
We would also like to thank all of the adults, who were able to attend and taste the children's food. Please take a look at the pictures below of some of the children and their food. The Year 5 children really enjoyed performing in their Christmas Brass concert this week. The Year 6 and Year 4 children who joined were also excellent and helped to spread Christmas cheer to everyone who attended. Take a look at some pictures below.

During the Autumn Term, the children in Year 5 have completed research into pneumatic toys, conducted market research, designed and made their own pneumatic toys in small groups. The children used their research with the Year 2's to design and make a product that would be suitable for a child in a Year 2.
Take a look at some pictures of the children making their toys and their final products. Year 5 really enjoyed taking part in World Book Day this week. They had a virtual author visit from Helen Rutter on how to be funny which they thoroughly enjoyed. Throughout the day, their class activities were based on alternative fairy tales - why don't you ask them about their story?
We’d like to take the opportunity to say thank you to all the parents, carers, aunties, uncles and grandparents who supported with the fantastic costume making and providing. Take a look at some pictures of Year 5's costumes. |
