Last week, the hardworking children of 5AH amazed their parents and carers with their class assembly. Even though they're still in their first term, they have completed an incredible amount of work and have learnt so much already!
The children shared learning from writing, DT and History as well as sharing some of their favourite moments from their residential trip to Kingswood. They also performed some excellent songs for everyone attending the assembly. Take a look at some pictures from the class assembly below.

Earlier this year, year 5 took part in two first aid workshops to learn all about keeping safe and how to deal with injuries and accidents. The children thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and learnt some very valuable lessons. Why don't you ask them what they can remember?
Please take a look at the pictures from the afternoon below - some of the children really got into character when playing injured. Year 5 had a fantastic day celebrating our love of reading. To start the day, we enjoyed a football/book quiz, which was hosted by professional footballers and authors alike. We also took part in a virtual author talk to find out about the process of writing and illustrating a book - the children were even taught how to draw one of the main characters from his book 'InvestiGators'.
We also focused our learning on the picture book 'Flotsam', discussed our understanding of the story and thought about what we would have done if we were in the main character's position. Why not ask your children about the book and what they thought of the story? We were also amazed by the effort everyone had put into their outfits and would like to thank parents and carers for their creativity! Please take a look at some pictures below of Year 5's World Book Day. Both Year 5 classes had excellent days completing their MasterChef projects. They had to work as a team and follow instructions to ensure they produced a meal everyone could enjoy. The children amazed the staff in Year 5 with their patience and cooking ability, they even managed to teach Mr Hirst, who has only stepped into a kitchen once before, a few cooking techniques.
We would also like to thank all of the adults, who were able to attend and taste the children's food. Please take a look at the pictures below of some of the children and their food. The Year 5 children really enjoyed performing in their Christmas Brass concert this week. The Year 6 and Year 4 children who joined were also excellent and helped to spread Christmas cheer to everyone who attended. Take a look at some pictures below.

During the Autumn Term, the children in Year 5 have completed research into pneumatic toys, conducted market research, designed and made their own pneumatic toys in small groups.
