We have spent this week exploring how people celebrate Chinese New Year. We listened to the story of the animals racing across the river and retold it to each other during our play. We tried to write Chinese numbers and wrote our own wishes for the new year. We compared some of the traditions with the ways we celebrated Christmas and linked it with our World Religion Day activities. We explored Chinese food and tasted different dips, prawn crackers and ate noodles using chopsticks. Ask your child what they thought. Our story this week was 'The Runaway Wok' by Ying Chang Compestine.
