Lights, Camel, Action!

KS1 dazzled on stage with their amazing Christmas concert, a fantastic spin on the Nativity Story with a Strictly Come Dancing twist! The children wowed the audience with their confidence, enthusiasm and incredible performances, making it a show to remember.
From the very first "It's a 10 from me!" to the grand finale, the children delivered their lines beautifully, showing great expression and confidence. Their dancing was full of energy and sparkle, just like the professionals on Strictly! Of course, no performance would be complete without some fantastic singing, and the children certainly delivered – filling the hall with joyful songs that had everyone smiling.
The audiences were absolutely thrilled, with plenty of cheers and applause for our talented young performers. It was a brilliant way to celebrate the festive season and showcase all the hard work the children have put into rehearsals. Well done, KS1 – you are all superstars!

PE Skills - Throwing at a target

Year 1 have been having a fantastic time in their PE lessons, where they are developing their teamwork skills while staying active and engaged. PE has quickly become a favourite part of the week, with children enjoying working together, supporting one another and celebrating their achievements.
Recently, the children have been learning how to throw underarm at a target. They practised this skill by aiming beanbags from a distance into a hoop, focusing on their technique and accuracy. To challenge themselves further, they embedded this skill within a series of fun and engaging activities, helping to refine their coordination and control.
It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as they develop their physical skills while also learning the importance of teamwork and perseverance. Well done, Year 1!

Artist Study: Henri Matisse

Year 1 have been diving into the world of art with their exciting artist study on Henri Matisse! They have thoroughly enjoyed learning about his unique style and exploring his famous collage technique, which he called "painting with scissors."
Did you know?
  • Henri Matisse was born in France in 1869.
  • He originally studied law before discovering his passion for art.
  • Later in life, he turned to collage as a way to create beautiful, bold artworks using cut-out shapes.
The children looked closely at Matisse’s collage work, studying his use of vibrant colours and bold shapes. Inspired by his techniques, they then used their knowledge to create their own stunning collages of animals. It was wonderful to see their creativity shine as they carefully cut and arranged different shapes to bring their artwork to life.
We are so proud of their fantastic work and their enthusiasm for learning about such an inspiring artist!

Settling into Year 1

The children in Year 1 have made a fantastic start to the new school year! They have settled in wonderfully, quickly adjusting to their new routines and enjoying the exciting learning opportunities within their new provision. It has been a joy to see them exploring the classroom with enthusiasm and curiosity, engaging in a range of hands-on activities designed to support their development.
One of the highlights of the term so far has been watching the children build strong friendships and develop their social skills. Through group activities, partner work, and play-based learning, they are learning how to take turns, share resources and collaborate with their peers. It is lovely to see their confidence growing as they engage in meaningful conversations and work together to solve problems.
The children have also been applying and embedding key skills across different areas of learning including maths, writing and fine motor skills. Oracy skills are flourishing as they take part in discussions, share their ideas, and practise speaking in full sentences. Teamwork is at the heart of many activities, encouraging children to listen to each other and support one another as they learn.
It has been a wonderful start to the year, and we are incredibly proud of how well the children have settled into Year 1. We look forward to seeing them continue to grow, learn and thrive over the coming months!

Year One had a wonderful day celebrating World Book Day. They enjoyed reading the book 'Mad about Minibeasts' which introduced them to lots of different minibeasts through rhyming text. The children used this to inspire their own riddles about different minibeasts! In the afternoon, the children completed some art work based on the work of Brian Wildsmith. The children carefully created beautiful butterfly pictures using chalks. It was a very exciting day and they loved seeing each other's costumes too.
