In Art, the children have created their own fruit and vegetable prints inspired by the artist, Orla Kiely. Take a look at their fantastic prints below. This afternoon, Year 1 have made their fruit salads based on their design criteria. They practised different skills such as, cutting, peeling and slicing. The children enjoyed eating and evaluating their fruit salads, where they reflected on what went well, what they found tricky and what they would change. Take a look at some pictures below.
As part of Design and Technology, Year One designed their own fruit salads. The children handled and tasted different fruits and decided which ones they liked and disliked. They then wrote a list of which fruits they would like to have in their fruit salad and drew a sketch of what their fruit salad will look like. Ask your child what their favourite fruit was! This morning the children in 1JG showcased their amazing learning during their class assembly. We are sure you would agree they did a brilliant job in remembering all their lines and singing beautifully in front of the audience. We are all very proud of them! This morning Year One welcomed Michala from Lion Learners. The children really enjoyed learning lots of facts about the animals and a lot of children were really brave in holding the animals! Take a look at some photos from the assembly. Last week, the children in Year One participated in Bikeability Balance training. The children practised a wide range of skills including; identifying parts of a balance bike, getting on and off a balance bike, pushing and gliding, stopping safely, controlling and steering, being aware of their surroundings and sharing space with others. On World Book Day, the children enjoyed coming to school dressed as their favourite character from a book. They participated in lots of interesting activities and completed work based on the book, 'How to wash a Woolley Mammoth'. Take a look at their fantastic day! This week. Year One received a message from the Three Little Pigs asking for their help as the Big Bad Wolf had returned. He loves jam sandwiches but the Three Little Pigs were unsure how to make them. The Year One children were very helpful and wrote a set of instructions for the pigs to follow. The children then followed their own instructions to make a jam sandwich.
