Recently, 6BCCL performed their class assembly to parents and carers to showcase their learning so far this year. Take a look at the photos to see how amazingly they did! Thank you to all the parents who attended this morning and we are sorry for those unable to watch.
The class shared lots of writing, art, science, poetry and geography, and even sang a few songs. Goodbye and good luck to all our Year 6 Leavers today. We saw an amazing collection of talent: sporting achievements, sketching, dancing, singing, gymnastics, football skills, drumming, poetry, keyboard, guitar playing and even a few comedy routines. Many memories.
Thank you to all Parents and Carers who came along to see their final Wellgate performance. The Year 6 pupils had an amazing time at Barnsley SuperBowl on Monday to celebrate their time at Wellgate. Take a look at the photos to see what they all got up to.
In D&T, Year 6 have been learning about textiles and have designed their very own pencil cases. First, the children needed to create a design criteria for their chosen audience- 10 year olds transitioning to secondary school. Then, the children needed to create designs that appealed to that audience and were functional and appealing. After practicing their whip stich, back stich and blanket stich, children then used all they had learned to create their pencil cases. Finished Product sIn Year 6 this term, children have been combining their computing and D&T learning to create fairground rides that are controlled by a computer program. In computing, children have been using Crumbles to explore the concept of selection in programming. They have used a microcontroller (Crumble ) and learned how to connect and program it to control components ( e.g. lights, motors, buzzers). The children then designed, wrote the code and then assembled a working model of a fairground ride. Starting to buildMaking shapeNearly finished and ready to testCompleted, checked and ready to rideLast week, it was World Book Day and Wellgate celebrated the day in style.
Throughout the day, children had fun dressing as their favourite book characters (or word) , showed off their costumes in assemblies and completed exciting learning about different books and had some fantastic book talk! Take a look! |
