This afternoon, 4BC/CL brought some festive cheer to the residents and staff at Chapel View Care Home. The children sang beautifully - so much so that there were happy tears shed by some of the residents. Mr Cronin did a fantastic job as always of accompanying the children with his great guitar playing skills. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and were rewarded with some tasty treats as a  well deserved thank you.

Year 4 Trip to Murton Park

22/9/2024

Year 4 had an amazing day at Murton Park.
We started the day by getting dressed up as Romans and practising how to hold our spears and shields correctly.
Then, Flavia and Marcus took us on a tour around the site. Many children were shocked to hear that the Romans used a wooden stick with a sponge on to wipe their bums!
The children were given the opportunity to practise fighting with weapons which they all really enjoyed.
They also signed a contract to say that they would be a Roman for the next 25 years and made a clay oil lamp.
They used what they had learnt about working as a team to chase away a Celt to protect their fort.
Thank you so much to all the children who were an absolute credit to their parents/carers and the school. We would also like to take the opportunity to thank all the adults who came with us and made it possible.

The Year 4 Pupils were transported back in time when they visited Murton Park to learn about what life was like for a Viking in 789 AD.
They began their visit by getting into their costumes before they learnt about various aspects of Viking life including:
- Using clay to create their own tallow holders.
-  Grinding wheat to create flour to produce their own Viking biscuits.
- Playing Viking games.
- Learning how to guard the village incase of attack from the Anglo Saxons.

Take a look at the pictures below to see the brave Vikings in action.

A massive well done to our wonderful Year 4 basketballers who were narrowly beaten by a golden point this afternoon. The skill and teamwork on display was fantastic and they did themselves and the school proud.  Well done guys.

4BC/JW World Book Day

4BC/JW absolutely loved taking part in World Book Day yesterday. They were lucky enough to have a story read to them by Mrs James. They also had a virtual author visit from Helen Rutter on how to be funny which they thoroughly enjoyed. Throughout the day, their class activities were based on the book ‘Be Kind’ – please click on the link if you would like to listen to this fantastic story.

We’d like to take the opportunity to say thank you to all the parents, carers, aunties, uncles and grandparents who supported with the fantastic costume making and providing. The children loved it and so did we.
