In Year 3, we have explored and learned about our local mining history, the industrial revolution and the mining strike of 1984. Our children have investigated key events that linked to the strike and have shown great empathy and interest in the impact these events have had in Barnsley.
Year 3 recently learnt first hand what it means to be on strike on 'The Day the Year 3 Chairs Quit'. A day in which the children were completely shocked to find out that their chairs had gone on strike. See the photos below of the absolutely outstanding letters of negotiation your amazing children have written to their chairs to convince them to return. An awesome mix of persuasive devices, emotionally evocative language and well thought out arguments. Year 3 are incredibly proud of their persuasive writing - and their teachers are too. It is superb.
