Year 1 have been working incredibly hard in Maths, exploring the fascinating world of tetromino and pentomino arrangements! The children have been investigating different ways to arrange these shapes and discovering how many possible formations they can create. They have also been testing whether their shapes stay the same when flipped or rotated – a great way to develop their spatial awareness and problem-solving skills. Alongside this, the children have been using four cubes to construct 3D models, exploring all the different ways they can be arranged. This hands-on learning has encouraged them to think critically and work systematically to find all possible solutions. Can you think of all the different ways four cubes could be combined to make a 3D shape? Why not have a go and see how many you can find? Well done, Year 1 – your hard work and curiosity in Maths is truly impressive!
