The upper KS2 sports day was a huge success yesterday, with all of the children showing great team spirit and being 'cheerleaders' for both themselves and each other which was wonderful to see. The children behaved incredibly well and were a credit to Wellgate. 

During the morning, they each took part in a carousel of activities against different teams: quick cricket, kick rounders, dodgeball and handball.

It was a pleasure to see so many parents then join us for the afternoon to watch the children take part in a range of different races.

At Wellgate, the children had a wonderful time learning about the significance of VE Day and why it is such an important moment in history. Through engaging activities, they explored the meaning behind the day and the impact it had on people’s lives.
To mark the occasion, the children enjoyed a fun-filled 'street party' style celebration, complete with music and traditional treats. It was a joyful way to honour the day and reflect on the themes of peace and community.
A big well done to all the children for taking part so enthusiastically in the activities – it was a day to remember! Thank you to all parents and carers for the generous donations of cakes and buns.
