What a fantastic day our Reception children have had on their visit to the Emergency Services Museum in Sheffield! Throughout the day, they had the opportunity to explore real emergency vehicles, try on uniforms, and take part in hands-on activities that brought their learning to life. They discovered how the police help to keep people safe, solve problems, and support the community. The children particularly enjoyed seeing a real life prison cell - although the food didn't look very nice! When exploring the work of firefighters, the children learned about fire safety, the importance of acting quickly in an emergency, and how firefighters use their equipment to put out fires and rescue people. Seeing the fire engines up close was definitely a highlight! The visit also helped the children understand the vital role of the ambulance service. They found out how paramedics care for people who are hurt or unwell and how they respond quickly to emergencies. Throughout the day, the children showed excellent listening, enthusiasm, and behaviour. We are so proud of how they represented our school and how polite and engaged they were in their learning. They were real Wellgate Stars! A huge thank you goes to all the parents who came to help out - we couldn't have done it without you.
