Our classroom is a nurturing learning space where the children are happy, kind and helpful.

Mr Steeples- Class Teacher

Hello, my name is Mr Steeples and I am lucky to be teaching The Sensible Space Rangers in Year Two this year. I have worked at Wellgate for 6 years and this is my fifth year in Year Two. I am looking forward to watching the children grow throughout the year as they continue their learning journey. One of the most rewarding things about being a teacher is getting to witness those “lightbulb moments.” The moment when something clicks and your pupil finally understands a concept. I enjoy learning new teaching techniques and strategies that I can use within the classroom. My favourite hobby is  going to watch Barnsley FC at Oakwell with my family. I also enjoy going to the cinema or theatre with my friends. If I could live anywhere in the world, I would love to live in Orlando and have an annual pass to Walt Disneyworld.

Mrs Hallam- Teaching Assistant

​Hello, my name is Mrs Hallam and I very lucky to have been given a job at such a lovely school. I work across both Year Two classes and love each new day supporting such enthusiastic children. I enjoy education because there are always new things to discover and learn – education allows us all to do this. I love to learn about lots of things but I specialise in music and find it fascinating learning about Ancient History. I find it interesting how things came to be. One of my favourite subjects is Egyptology. I grew up in Carnlough, a quiet little village on the coast of Northern Ireland. It has a lovely beach, beautiful green fields and a little harbour where Sammy the Seal lives! I have many hobbies including playing in my band, playing on the Xbox and reading fantasy novels.

Miss Turner - Teaching Assistant

Hello, my name is Miss Turner and I am one of the Teaching Assistants in Year Two. I love working in Year Two because of the determination of the children. There is nothing more rewarding than supporting a child and them being successful. I am most proud of my two children. I love stationery and enjoy buying new pens and pencils! I cannot wait to spend another year in Year Two working with such enthusiastic children.

Mrs Butler - Teaching Assistant

Hello, my name is Mrs Butler and I am excited to be working in Year Two this year. I have worked in EYFS and Year One before so this is a new challenge for me! I love my job because I get a sense of achievement when I help children to make progress and achieve something they are putting their minds to. I really enjoy being crafty and have many different projects on the go. Learning to drive has been my biggest accomplishment so far. If I could learn new skills myself, it would be something about technology as I know this would be useful.

Friday – Maths homework handed in and new homework given out
