RE is taught throughout the school. Each year group has a topic to focus on every half term. Religions studied include Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, and Sikhism. Topics are based on these religions, for example, learning about the origins of each religion, studying the different gods etc.
Children are encouraged to consider why we have different religions and what ‘religion’ means to them. Year groups explore the various types of worship via a range of religious artefacts, i.e. religious books, prayers, candles, costumes etc. RE lessons also involve class discussions, related artwork, answering questions, role-play and creative writing.
School trips related to Religious Education include a visit to a local church, learning about Judaism via the Performing Arts Department and going to a Hindu Temple in Bradford.
