Physical Education aims to provide pupils with the skills and confidence to meet a range of physical challenges and to promote positive attitudes towards active and healthy lifestyles.
There are 2 main areas covered in P.E, these are games and gymnastics.
In games, children will be taught a range of team games and develop the skills needed to play. This will include using a range of equipment, such as bats, balls etc. Through participation in games lessons, children will learn to cooperate with one another and work well as a team.
In gymnastics, children will develop the art of movement and exercise their creativity. Gymnastics lessons include floor work and the use of a range of small and large apparatus.
The school also offers a wide variety of extra curricular activities that take place before and after school. The activities are often led by outside agencies, as well as staff in school. Most of the extra curricular activities run as after school clubs, in 6-week blocks, twice a year. However, some of our teams practice throughout the year, including netball and girls football.
Children are given the opportunity to put their skills into practice, by taking part in a range of tournaments and competitions that take place in Barnsley throughout the year.
