In design technology the children spend a lot of time planning, designing, making and evaluating. They investigate how things are made and how they work. Children also have the opportunity to develop food technology skills through food preparation and baking.
In the Foundation Stage children are given the opportunity to participate in a wide range of practical activities progressing through the foundation curriculum stepping-stones. In Key Stages 1 & 2 the teachers have access to the QCA scheme of work and this is adapted to coincide with topics.
 Examples of projects completed are designing and making kites in reception, making a fruit salad in year 1, Viking ships in year 3, vehicles and purses in year 4 and baking bread in year 6.
