WELLGATE TIMES NEWSPAPER
At Wellgate we have a group of Year 6 pupils which make up our Wellgate Times publishing team. Each term they meet to compile a new edition.
All children throughout school are asked to be reporters, from F2 onwards. Children can report on anything from their home or school life, and submit their reports to be added into the next edition.

Congratulations to all those who took part in Wellgate's Got Talent - The Final! A fantastic afternoon of performances was watched by the whole school. Acts included singing, dancing, jokes, magic tricks, gymnastics and musicians! Wellgate's School Council chose the lucky final 6 winners. It was a difficult task as all of the acts were fantastic! Comic Relief - March 2011
A HUGE thank you to all of the children and parents at our school for raising a fantastic amount of money for Comic Relief... a day of fun was had by everyone! Wacky hairstyles and crazy clothes featured in every classroom!
Conisborough Castle Trip - March 2011
F2 / Year 1 had a fantastic day at Conisborough castle as part of their Dungeons and Dragons topic... climbing the keep, touring the castle grounds and peering into the dungeons!
Science show - January 2011
Wellgate had an exciting start to the new term with a fantastic science show for the day. Explosions, games and amazing experiments were performed with the help of our children! (Don't try this at home!!!)...
Robin Hood Performance - October 2010
The children at Wellgate were lucky enough to see a fantastic performance of Robin Hood in the Infant hall. It was a great show, full of laughs, screams and plenty of singing!
Summer Fair - June 2010
A huge thank you goes out to all involved in Wellgate's summer fair this year. We had a fantastic day full of games, prizes, stalls, events and features such as a dog show, bouncy castle and the fire engine.
We raised an amazing £2500 for school!
Wellgate's Got Talent Update

Wellgate's Got Talent!
We are excited to announce the arrival of our new talent competition... Wellgate's Got Talent! This is a great opportunity for the children across school to show off their own talents... from model building to gymnastics, joke telling to piano playing... our talent competition has it all!
Fill in your application letters and hand them to your class teacher by Monday 10th May. The main event will be on Monday 24th May, in which 15 winners will be chosen to represent our school when we appear as school of the month on www.wearebarnsley.com.
Year 4/5 play - Greece Goes To Pieces
Classes 10,11 and 12 have been learning about Ancient Greece and Greek Mythology.
This Spring term they performed a fantastic play called Greece Goes To Pieces.
March 2010 - Lets Get Cooking Big Cookathon
Tuesday 16th March was the Let's Get Cooking Big Cookathon day at Wellgate! This was an exciting opportunity for us to try to win £3,000 to spend on cooking equipment for our school...and of course to show off our cooking talent!
Every child in the school as well as teachers, teaching assistants and helpers took part in peeling, chopping and preparing a large variety of vegetables to make a gigantic root vegetable soup! In total over 647 people took part!
A big thank you to Mrs Allott and her army of helpers for organising this fantastic event!
March 2010 - World Book Day!
The children and staff at Wellgate took part in World Book Day on the 4th March to celebrate the fun and enjoyment that reading provides! All of the staff and children dressed up as their favourite characters for the day, and each class read and took part in lots of fun and exciting activities based around one of their favourite books.
